Immunochemiluminometric assay (ICMA); PEG precipitation; An analyte-specific reagent (ASR) is used in this test.

 

 

Test Includes

Prolactin, serum (ICMA); monomeric prolactin (ICMA); percent macroprolactin

 

Specimen Requirements

Container/Tube:  Gold-top tube(s)

Specimen:  1 mL of serum (0.7 mL min)

Transport Temperature:  Frozen serum

Collection: Do not draw sample until patient has been awake for at least two hours. Separate serum or plasma from cells within 45 minutes of collection. Transfer specimen to plastic transport tube before freezing.

Reference Values

Monomeric Prolactin Values shoud be utilized to assess the biologically active level of Prolactin.

Monomeric Prolactin: 1-7 days: 30 - 495 ng/mL

Childrens and Adults: Male: 3 - 18 ng/mL

Female: 3 - 24 ng/mL
