Specimen Required
Collect breath specimens (minimum volume: bag of “breath” must be full) from a fasting patient using a Meretek UBTTM Breath Test Specimen Collection Kit. Collect baseline breath specimen using the blue bag. Collect post-dose breath specimen using the pink bag 15 minutes after drinking Pranactin® Citric solution. (Remind patient that Pranactin® Citric contains a small amount of aspartame sweetener.) Test may not be suitable for patient phenylketonuria whose dietary phenylalanine should be restricted.
Note: 1. Patient should not have taken
bismuth/tritec, antibiotics, proton-pump inhibitors (eg,
Prilosec®, Prevacid®, Aciphex®, Protonix®,
Nexium®) or Pepto-Bismol® for 2 weeks prior to testing.
2. Patient should have fasted (except for plain water) at least 1
hour before administering BreathTekTM UBiT®-IR300
UBT.
