Collection Instructions

Container/Tube: APTIMA®Unisex Swab collection kit (white label) or Orange aptima swabs
Specimen: Throat swab in APTIMA®  Transport Media
Transport Temperature:  Room Temperature
 
Collection: Use the small, blue shafted collection swab provided with the Unisex collection kit, NOT the larger white shafted cleansing swab. Rub the posterior pharynx and tonsillar areas. Withdraw the swab carefully. Remove the cap from the swab specimen transport tube and immediately place the specimen collection swab into the transport tube. Carefully break the swab shaft at the score-line; use care to avoid splashing of the contents. Recap the swab specimen transport tube tightly. Recap the swab specimen transfer tube tightly, label and ship to the lab.
