Specimen: Entire container- No Preservative Protect from Light
Transport Temperature: Send specimen refrigerated. Stable for 7 Days. If more than 7 days send frozen urine.

Useful For
ALA is a precursor to uroporphyrin, coproporphyrin, and
protoporphyrin. Concentrations of ALA are greatly increased in many
patients with acute neurological forms of porphyrias and in some
patients with chronic alcohol abuse.
